About Bellenden Ker

The region of Bellenden Ker is nestled at the base of Mount Bellenden Ker and is part of the World Heritage Listed rainforest which extends 900,000 hectares between Townsville and Cooktown.

World Heritage listed in 1998, the rainforest has about 700 different species of plants which change as the altitude of Bellenden Ker National Park changes.

Set in tropical Far North Queensland's Wet Tropics region, the seasons experienced by visitors at the Misty Mountains Nature Retreat don't differ greatly between months. Visitors in the summer months, December through March, can expect an average of 30c degree days.

The wet season makes its mark on the region throughout the summer months changing the semi-damp rainforest to a mist filled haven. The region's winter months, June through August is known as the dry season and visitors can expect 25c degree days with cooler 'snuggle weather' temperatures overnight.

Misty Mountains Nature Retreat has its own water supply by the natural rainforest springs ensuring an eco-friendly experience. The water is direct from the centre of Mount Bellenden Ker meaning you will not share with anyone.

There has been minimum intrusion to the natural rainforest ensuring the purest visit available. Misty Mountains Nature Retreat is the ultimate rainforest experience, with picturesque views from its three styles of accommodation, The Studio Villa, The Rainforest Villa and the Glasshouse. The accommodation's seclusion from the outside world takes visitors into an enchanted world with the soundtrack of nature as the backdrop.
